December in NYC

The 25 days leading up to Christmas in the city is always the most magical time of the year. Those who've experienced it before know that there's something extra special about spending the holidays in the city that is immersed in its own sense of seasonal magic and excitement.

During December, there are a countless number of festive activities to partake in. From gazing at the Rockefeller Tree to drinking in a whimsical igloo, there will be something for you! (Or, if you're channeling you're inner Kevin McCallister from Home Alone 2, you can frolick through the Plaza Hotel too!)

1. Rolf's

Eat, drink and be merry at Rolf's! No seriously, this is exactly what you'll be doing, after taking a cute-af Instagram of course. It doesn't get much better than being surrounded by hundreds of dazzling Christmas decorations and lights as you dine.

2. Bryant Park Winter Village

If you have yet to experience the small town charm in the middle of Manhattan kind of vibe, then you need to head on over to the winter village at Bryant Park, like yesterday. You will find plenty of shops selling jewelry, decor, local food, clothing and unique gifts. If you're credit card gets to heavy, take a break and skate awhile in the village rink!

3. Dyker Heights

If you're on the search for something a little less traditional, head on over to Brooklyn to watch the unspoken competition, in which every house tries to out-decorate and out-shine each other. This event makes for the perfect stroll paired with some hot cocoa, and definitely a pair of sunglasses, or two.

4. Rockefeller Tree

Christmas is the one time it is socially acceptable for New Yorker's to pull a "tourist". This in fact means that everyone should check Rockefeller off their list, because it truly wouldn't be Christmas in the city without seeing this enormous green symbol anyways. O Christmas Tree is right!!

5. Holiday Window Displays

If the city is known for anything around the holidays, its the famous ornate Christmas-themed window displays that make me feel some type of way. Of course, we can always count on famous stores like Barney's, Bergdorf's, Macy's, Lord & Taylor, and Saks Fifth Avenue to show off their holiday spirit, and obviously tempt us all with their latest and most fabulous merchandise.

6. Santa Con

Dust off the ol' Saint Nick suit from last year, because this bar crawl is back and better than ever. Probably drunker too! Grab some fellow Kris Kringle's on December 9th and follow @SantaCon on Twitter or check out the Santa Con website for the starting locations in addition to updates throughout the day.

7. Santa Suit 5K

If you're looking for a little less drinking, and a little more running, all while involving a Santa suit, this holiday event is calling your name. On December 10, take advantage of the semi-nice weather while it lasts, throw on your best version of Mr. or Mrs. Clause and hit the streets for 3.1 miles of running!

8. Christmas Markets

Mix in some of NYC's Christmas markets into your holiday shopping this year. Below are some of the most popular markets where you can buy gifts, decorations and of course festive treats!

Union Sq. Holiday Market / Open until Dec 24.

Columbus Circle Holiday Market/ Open until Dec 24

9. Ice Skating at the Standard Hotel

Most of the Ice Skating rinks this time of year are packed with people. Switch it up this year and enjoy the adorable (I actually mean tiny) ice skating rink in front of the Standard Hotel. Grab some hot chocolate at the outdoor cafe afterwards. Note: If you're extremely uncoordinated, don't cha worry..they have some very cute penguins you can hold onto while you attempt to skate!

10. Miracle on 9th Street

There is no better time of the year to go out for a drink in the city than Christmas time. Seriously, whats better than a warm drink next to a fire on a cold day? You can get back to me on that one. The holiday pop-up bar Miracle on 9th St. makes the best seasonal drinks and its the original location of Miracle! All of which make this bar a must see.

11. Nutcracker

Remember when you were little and it was a holiday tradition to get dressed up and see the Nutcracker at Lincoln Center? Bring back that magical feeling of Christmas as a child this year with a beautiful performance and music that sets the cheerful tone for the holidays. It could be a cute date night, or simply an excuse to dress up!

12. 230 Fifth

No where else can you find a rooftop bar in Manhattan, or anywhere to say the least, that offers guests the chance to drink outdoors in the middle of winter. Leave your coats at home because you and your friends can drink and enjoy insane views of the skyline from the comfort of your very own igloo. You might want to take out your camera for this one.
